Assistant Accountant (Tax)

Job Overview

The Assistant Accountant - Tax is responsible for ensuring compliance with TAX regulations across the group. This role involves VAT return preparation, review, and filing, as well as monitoring tax invoice compliance and assisting with VAT audits. The role will also support the TAX Manager in ensuring the accuracy of TAX related financial transactions and training internal teams on TAX compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing and executing tax compliance activities for the Group.
• Performing data extraction and analysis for the preparation of VAT returns.
• Preparing and filing VAT returns in a timely manner.
• Handling amendments and updates on the FTA portal.
• Ensuring tax invoices and tax credit notes raised by the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams comply with VAT regulations.
• Reviewing vendor tax invoices and credit notes to ensure VAT compliance.
• Assisting in VAT Health Checks and VAT return reviews conducted by external auditors.
• Supporting the delivery of VAT training sessions for various business divisions to address queries and enhance understanding of VAT law and its implications.
• Assisting the VAT Manager with day-to-day tax operations and related matters.
• Posting VAT-related journal entries in SAP, including payments, provisions, adjustments, reconciliations.
• Assisting in the preparation and review of Corporate Tax returns and related documentation.

Qualification & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional certifications such as VAT Diploma, ACCA, CPA, or CMA are a plus.
• 2+ years of experience in VAT compliance, accounting, or tax-related roles, preferably within the UAE or GCC region.
• Strong knowledge of TAX laws and regulations.
• Experience with VAT return filing and compliance audits.
• Proficiency in SAP or other ERP systems.
• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
