CRANE TECHNICIAN

The Crane Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of crane mechanical and hydraulic systems to ensure safe and reliable lifting operations. The role involves working on offshore platforms, rigs, FPSOs, and onshore workshops while complying with company HSE standards and lifting regulations. Key Responsibilities Offshore Duties \* Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pedestal cranes, winches, hoists, davits, and lifting equipment. \* Inspect and repair mechanical components including: \* Gearboxes \* Winches \* Brakes \* Slewing bearings \* Wire ropes \* Sheaves \* Hydraulic cylinders \* Pumps and motors \* Troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic failures and carry out repairs. \* Conduct crane inspections and prepare equipment for load testing and certification. \* Support crane operators during functional testing and commissioning activities. \* Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports, and work orders. \* Ensure compliance with Permit to Work (PTW), Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), and HSE procedures. Onshore Workshop Duties \* Disassemble, inspect, repair, and overhaul crane components. \* Rebuild gearboxes, hydraulic pumps, motors, winches, and cylinders. \* Perform pressure testing and functional testing of repaired components. \* Read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, and technical drawings. \* Prepare maintenance reports and spare parts requirements. \* Ensure workshop equipment and tools are maintained and calibrated. Required Qualifications \* Diploma or ITI in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, or related field. \* 3–7 years of experience in crane maintenance, preferably in Oil & Gas or offshore environments. \* Experience with offshore pedestal cranes and hydraulic systems. \* Knowledge of crane mechanical assemblies, winches, brakes, gearboxes, and wire rope systems. \* Ability to read hydraulic and mechanical drawings. \* Good troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
