Job Title: General Dentist

Job Purpose

The General Dentist is responsible for providing comprehensive oral healthcare by diagnosing, treating, and preventing dental diseases and conditions. The role ensures the delivery of safe, ethical, and evidence-based dental services while complying with Department of Health (DOH) Abu Dhabi regulations, infection prevention standards, and clinic policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive dental examinations and assess patients' oral health.
• Diagnose dental and oral conditions and formulate appropriate treatment plans.
• Perform general dental procedures within the scope of DOH-approved clinical privileges, including restorations, extractions, scaling and polishing, root canal treatment (where privileged), crowns, bridges, dentures, and emergency dental care.
• Prescribe medications and request diagnostic investigations when clinically indicated.
• Obtain informed consent before performing dental procedures.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, preventive care, treatment options, and post-procedure instructions.
• Refer patients to dental specialists or other healthcare providers when necessary.
• Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies, sterilization protocols, and patient safety standards.
• Ensure proper handling and maintenance of dental instruments, equipment, and materials.
• Report clinical incidents, adverse events, and patient complaints according to clinic policy.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement activities, mandatory training, and Continuing Medical Education (CME).
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all applicable DOH regulations and professional ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), or an equivalent recognized dental qualification.
• Valid Department of Health (DOH) Abu Dhabi License as a General Dentist or a valid DOH Eligibility Letter.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Relevant clinical experience in general dentistry is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

• Strong clinical and diagnostic skills in general dentistry.
• Excellent communication and patient counseling abilities.
• Knowledge of DOH regulations, infection prevention, and patient safety standards.
• Proficiency in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
• Good organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
