JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for serving as legal counsel for CCAD reporting into the General Counsel. This position will provide strategic guidance, consultation, and support to senior management and the C-Suite on a comprehensive range of legal and associated issues involved in carrying out the business operations at CCAD.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as CCAD’s legal advisor
  • Ensures accurate and timely responses are provided to requests for legal advice
  • Reviews, researches, interprets, and prepares both written and oral opinions on a variety of legal issues
  • Reviews contracts, leases, and other legal documents; researches legal issues and recommends revisions as necessary
  • Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advise on possible legal issues
  • Advises and trains appropriate members of the department on legal developments
  • Provide clarification on legal language or specifications
  • Identifies and seeks to implement measures to bring legal services to CCAD in the most effective way possible
  • Participates in the budget process
  • In collaboration with the General Counsel, manages outside counsel in the most cost-effective manner possible
  • Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel etc.), creating relations of trust
  • Ensure legal compliance with all applicable laws
  • Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Typical physical demands include: a high degree of manual dexterity to sufficiently perform computer functions on a keyboard, produce materials on a PC and operate basic office equipment, normal or corrected vision and hearing, extensive sitting and/or walking, mobility sufficient to visit with departments or employees throughout CCAD and lift up to 30 lbs.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • J.D. from an accredited law school

Experience

  • Minimum of twelve (12+) years’ law experience, preferably in both a law firm and an in-house setting

  • Experience in the healthcare sector is required, including in the areas of hospital/healthcare business operations and contracting; hospital/physician contracting; business transactions, including joint ventures, mergers/acquisitions/dispositions, and financings; and healthcare regulatory and legal compliance, as is an excellent understanding of major UAE laws, and related regulations that govern the provision of healthcare services.

Certification and Licensure

  • Valid and current national good standing in a legal association

  • A demonstrable ability to be an effective leader within an established legal department.
  • Proven track record of strong negotiation, communication, organizational, and people management skills and the ability to influence and build relationships.
  • Experience implementing legal strategies in a business environment
  • Ability to manage a practice group in at least one substantive area of law importance
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity
  • Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic
  • Health care industry experience
