Duties & Responsibilities
• Perform assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation process in Obstetric Gynaecology ward especially for antenatal and postnatal cases.
• Skillful in basic and advance procedures such as monitoring uterine contractions, performing CTG and fetal monitoring , demonstrating knowledge regarding induction and       preparations for labor, providing antepartum, intrapartum and post-partum care of labor clients , assisting consultant for procedures, providing breast care and perineal care ,   handling patients with eclampsia, newborn babies and guiding parents on caring for neonates , blood transfusion, facilitating breast feeding and formula feeding.
• Perform assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation process in Obstetric Gynaecology ward especially for antenatal and postnatal cases.
• Be knowledgeable about the layout of the unit, number of patients, types of patient and their requirements.
• Recognize early warnings signs (EWS), and follow the followup intervention as per the guidelines, and handles emergency situations and complications effectively during the   course of treatment.
• Accompany the Consultants during hospital rounds and assist in diagnostic and therapeutic studies.
• Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions. This may also involve coordinating follow-up care and      referrals to specialists.
• Demonstrate skills in handling neonatal and pediatric patients, inserting IV cannula and collecting sample, CTG monitoring and fetal monitoring.
• Be knowledgeable and skilful in induction, preparations for labour and assisting in deliveries.
• Demonstrate excellent skills in assisting mother for breast feeding, breast care, perineal care, and care of new born babies.
• Awareness on Isolation and barrier nursing practices at all times Competently administers all medications following seven rights.
• Monitor the patient and timely report deterioration of patient’s health condition.
• Arrange and transfuse blood & blood products appropriately.
• Provide and attend personal hygiene needs, elimination needs of patient.
• Assess nutritional needs and preferences and meet the nutritional requirement of the patient.
• Evaluate effectiveness of nursing care on patient condition and record and report it to the concerned Doctor timely.
• Ensure second hourly positioning and back care for bedridden patients.
• Ensure shift change report at patient bedside in each shift.
• Give accurate report to the Team Leader/ Head Nurse/ Supervisor as required.
• Actively participate in the disaster management process (Identified Codes) in the hospital.
• Initiate CPR and activates code blue as and when required.
• Follow strictly infection control practices and care bundles at all times.
