SENCO – Special Educational Needs Coordinator

Al Fajr Early Childhood Centre, a KHDA-licensed nursery in Al Barsha 2, is seeking a dedicated SENCO to lead our provision for Students/Children of Determination, ages 45 days to FS2, including children on the autism spectrum.

Responsibilities

• Identify, assess, and support children with additional learning needs
• Write, implement, and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in coordination with teachers and parents
• Deliver daily 1:1 or small-group sessions (integrated into our EYFS programme)
• Liaise directly with external speech and language therapists (SLT) and occupational therapists (OT) to align in-nursery support with outside therapy goals
• Coordinate shadow teachers/aides where a child requires one, ensuring smooth integration into the classroom
• Ensure compliance with KHDA Inclusion Policy and support "Students of Determination" framework requirements
• Train and guide classroom staff on inclusive practice

Requirements

• Recognised SEN qualification — NASENCO (National Award for SEN Coordination), PGCert/Diploma in Special Education, or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years' hands-on SEN experience, early years setting strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience supporting autistic children — training such as ABA foundation certification is an advantage
• Proven experience writing and managing IEPs, not just theoretical knowledge
• Experience working alongside external therapists (SLT/OT) as part of a child's support team
• Working knowledge of KHDA Inclusion Policy and UAE SEN frameworks
• Valid DHA/KHDA clearance or willingness to obtain

Pay: AED2,500.00 - AED4,500.00 per month
