About the Role

This position is responsible for the day-to-day operational, technical, and administrative management of the Simulation Center at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD). The Manager oversees the daily running of a multi-zone center spanning virtual and immersive reality, surgical training, procedural and task training, objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs), interprofessional team training, and wet lab activities, together with the Life Support program, including American Heart Association (AHA) courses. This is a non-clinical role focused on operational execution, simulation technology, team management, and supporting the Director with partnerships and business development. The Manager develops proposals and business cases and coordinates approved partnership and revenue-generating activities under the direction of the Director. The role operates within the strategy and governance set by the Director and ensures the center runs in line with the best practice standards of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH).

Responsibilities

  • Simulation Operations and Technology
  • Oversees the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of simulation technology across all zones, including high-fidelity manikins, task and part-task trainers, virtual and augmented reality platforms, surgical and procedural trainers, and audiovisual capture and debriefing systems.
  • Develops and maintains standard operating procedures for each zone.
  • Operates simulation and audiovisual equipment, follows scenario flow, and makes real-time adjustments during sessions.
  • Coordinates repairs and warranty work and liaises with manufacturers on maintenance, updates, and technology changes.
  • Multi-Zone Center Management
  • Manages the daily operation of the center's distinct zones: virtual and immersive reality, surgical training, procedural and task training, OSCEs, interprofessional team training, and wet lab.
  • Oversees wet lab operations, including biosafety, the handling and disposal of specimens or models, and compliance with relevant health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepares zones and equipment for scheduled activities and ensures readiness and turnaround between sessions.
  • Life Support Program Management
  • Manages the day-to-day operation of the Life Support program, including BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Heartsaver CPR and AED courses.
  • Coordinates the American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center relationship and oversees program administration so courses are delivered and documented in line with AHA requirements.
  • Schedules courses, coordinates the instructor pool, and tracks certifications, renewals, and mandatory training compliance across the organisation.
  • Maintains life support equipment, manikins, and consumables and ensures readiness for scheduled courses.
  • Partnerships and Business Development Support
  • Identifies potential opportunities for partnerships and new services and brings them to the Director for consideration.
  • Prepares proposals, costings, and business cases for review and approval by the Director.
  • Coordinates the day-to-day delivery of approved partnerships and activities, such as fee-for-service simulation, external course hosting, and facility and equipment hire.
  • Acts as an operational point of contact for partners and clients, escalating any commitments or agreements to the Director for approval.
  • Supports the Director in marketing and promoting the center's capabilities internally and externally.
  • People and Standardized Patient Management
  • Manages, schedules, and develops simulation technicians, operations staff, and standardized patients.
  • Performs personnel management functions, including interviewing and selecting candidates, performance management, and corrective action.
  • Oversees recruitment, training, and quality of the standardized patient program.
  • Budget, Procurement, and Inventory
  • Manages day-to-day spending within the approved operating budget and prepares capital and procurement requests for approval by the Director.
  • Oversees procurement of simulators, consumables, software, and supplies within approved budgets, and maintains accurate inventory.
  • Monitors activity income and costs and reports performance to the Director.
  • Scheduling and Access
  • Manages the center calendar and coordinates equitable access across programs and zones.
  • Balances competing demands and optimises utilisation of space, equipment, and staff.
  • Compliance, Safety, and Accreditation
  • Ensures the center operates in line with SSH best practice standards and relevant safety, data privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports the Director in achieving and maintaining accreditation and in meeting quality assurance standards.
  • Maintains the center's policy and procedure manual.
  • Education and Faculty Support
  • Provides technical and operational support to faculty and educators in scenario design, simulation delivery, debriefing, and assessment.
  • Designs and delivers training for faculty and staff on the use of simulation equipment, technology, and center procedures.
  • Quality, Research, and Improvement
  • Monitors key performance indicators across utilisation, quality, financial performance, safety, and user satisfaction, and reports results to leadership.
  • Supports simulation research and scholarly activity.
  • Uses data and evidence to guide continuous improvement of center operations and services.
  • Support to the Director
  • Provides operational data, utilisation reports, and compliance summaries to the Director.
  • Escalates operational constraints, compliance or safety risks, and partnership or financial commitments that require approval.
  • Supports the implementation of strategy and governance decisions made by the Director and senior leadership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Specific Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot simulation hardware, software, and audiovisual systems.
  • Proficiency with simulation management platforms and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong organisational, budgeting, and project management skills.
  • Partnership and business development support skills, including proposal and business case writing.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Working knowledge of simulation operations, healthcare and simulation principles, safety and compliance, and applicable SSH standards.
  • Experience with virtual and immersive reality platforms and wet lab operations.
  • Marketing or commercial experience.
