Medical Receptionist

Overview
We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional patient service and administrative support within a busy medical office.
This role requires strong organizational skills, familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, and a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology and billing procedures. Experience with various clinic management software is highly preferred. The Medical Receptionist will play a vital role in maintaining efficient office operations.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally at the front desk, managing multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette
- Schedule patient appointments using EMR/EHR systems
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification processes accurately
- Collect payments and perform medical billing tasks
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper filing of patient documents in accordance with health information management standards
- Assist with intake procedures, including patient registration and data entry using computer skills and typing proficiency
- Manage appointment reminders, rescheduling, and cancellations to optimize clinic flow
- Support clinical staff by coordinating care plans and facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality during all administrative activities
- Handle administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing office supplies to support smooth clinic operations
Experience
- Previous experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is highly desirable
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems is preferred
- Familiarity with health information management standards and insurance verification processes
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations
- Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and clerical experience in a busy office setting
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and data entry
- Office management or administrative experience in a healthcare setting will be considered an asset
