Senior Accountant

Job Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring accuracy in financial records and reports. The role includes handling general ledger activities, reconciliations, financial statements, and compliance with accounting standards and local regulations. The Senior Accountant supports the finance manager in budgeting, audits, and overall financial reporting.

Responsibilities

Ø  Financial Reporting

·        Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).

·        Ensure reports comply with IFRS and company policies.

·        Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.

Ø  Accounting & Bookkeeping

·        Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.

·        Process and review journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll transactions.

·        Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations.

Ø  Budgeting & Analysis

·        Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.

·        Analyze financial data and report variances to management.

·        Support cost control and expense tracking initiatives.

Ø  Compliance & Taxation

·        Ensure accurate VAT and corporate tax filings in line with UAE regulations.

·        Prepare required documentation for internal and external audits.

·        Stay informed on local accounting and tax updates.

Ø  Internal Controls

·        Follow established accounting procedures and internal control policies.

·        Support improvements to accounting processes for accuracy and efficiency.

Ø Cash Flow & Treasury Support

·        Monitor cash balances and assist in managing payments and collections.

·        Support treasury activities such as fund transfers and bank coordination.

Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

·        5–7 years of accounting experience (UAE experience preferred).

·        Solid understanding of IFRS, VAT, and corporate tax compliance.

·        Proficiency in accounting software (SAP, QuickBooks, or similar).

·        Strong analytical and attention-to-detail skills.

·        Good communication and teamwork abilities.

·        Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
