JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for performing psychological assessments and contributing to the plan of care for patients with complex social, cultural or clinical needs.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

CLINICAL / PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Conducts patient psychosocial assessment and makes treatment recommendations under the supervision of Senior Clinical Social Worker
  • Provides consultation and collaborates with physicians, nurses and other health care team members to assist in the development of a comprehensive and coordinated plan of care
  • Engages patients and their families in adhering to the treatment plan by reducing or eliminating, to the extent possible, social, psychological, financial and behavioral barriers to successful outcomes
  • Assists Case Manager and Senior Clinical Social Workerwith complex social situations
  • Advocates on the patient’s behalf for access to appropriate post- acute care services
  • Identifies and assists the under or uninsured patient to locate available resources and advocates with payers and social agencies to locate sources of financial support
  • Acts as a resource to CCAD personnel on a wide range of social and cultural topics
  • Assist in the provision of emotional support and education for staff

  • Adheres to CCAD’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies

In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within CCAD, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Typical physical demands include: a high degree of manual dexterity to sufficiently perform computer functions on a keyboard, produce materials on a PC and operate basic office equipment, normal or corrected vision and hearing, mobility sufficient to visit with departments or employees throughout CCAD and lift up to 30 lbs.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work is required
  • Master’s degree in Social Work is required

Experience

  • Minimum of four (4) years experience in social work is require
  • For UAE Nationals: minimum of two (2) years experience in social work is required
  • Acute care hospital experience required for non-UAE nationals

Certification and Licensure

  • Current national license is required

  • Knowledge of the requirements of government and other regulatory bodies
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict mediation skills
  • Ability to deal effectively with people at all levels of the health care hierarchy
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to speak and write in English is required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to speak and write in Arabic is preferred
