Emergency Medicine Resident

Core Responsibility
Clinical Management: Provide immediate assessment, stabilization, and definitive care for patients with undifferentiated symptoms. This includes managing critical surgical, orthopedic, and pediatric cases.
Decision-Making & Disposition: Formulate differential diagnoses and decide on patient disposition—whether that involves admission, transfer to another facility, or safe discharge.
Procedural Expertise: Perform emergency procedures such as airway management (ventilation), vascular access (central and peripheral), chest drain insertion, and joint relocations.
Supervision & Mentorship: Guide and supervise junior medical staff, including Residents, Interns, and medical students.
Coordination: Liaise with consultants, specialty registrars, and nursing teams to ensure smooth patient flow through the ED.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Advanced Life Support: Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and often Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Communication: High-level verbal and written skills for effective handovers, complex patient/family discussions, and multi-disciplinary teamwork.
- Adaptability: Ability to maintain focus and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Required Qualifications
- Medical Degree: Masters or Board in Emergency from reputable university.
- Registration: Full registration in Saudi Commission for Health Specialties as an ER Registrar/ Senior Registrar.
- Experience: at least 2 years of post-qualification specialized experience in Emergency Medicine.
