Position Overview

The Finance Director is responsible for leading the finance function and providing strategic financial leadership to New Country Healthcare. The role reports directly to the CEOs and holds full accountability for financial strategy, governance, performance management, and commercial finance across all business units.

The Finance Director plays a critical role in supporting business growth, profitability, and financial sustainability by ensuring robust financial planning, disciplined execution, and strong internal controls. The role acts as a senior business partner to executive leadership, supporting strategic decision-making, investment evaluation, pricing, and commercial negotiations.

This position requires a seasoned finance leader with strong experience in healthcare distribution environments who combines technical expertise, commercial insight, and leadership capability. The role has a defined progression path toward Chief Financial Officer, subject to performance and organisational needs.

Roles and Responsibilities

Enterprise Financial Leadership & Stewardship

  • Hold ultimate accountability for the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of all financial information across the company.
  • Lead the finance function as the highest financial authority, ensuring strong stewardship of company assets and resources.
  • Act as the principal financial advisor to the CEOs on all financial, commercial, and strategic matters.
  • Represent finance in board meetings, executive committees, and governance forums, with authority to challenge and influence decisions.

Financial Strategy, Planning & Capital Discipline

  • Define and execute the financial strategy aligned with corporate objectives and long-term value creation.
  • Lead annual and multi-year financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting cycles across all entities.
  • Oversee capital allocation, investment appraisal, and funding decisions to ensure disciplined use of resources.
  • Provide scenario modelling and financial risk assessments to support strategic initiatives and market expansion.

Commercial Finance & P&L Ownership

  • Own full P&L oversight across business units, channels, and categories.
  • Lead margin management, pricing governance, and profitability analysis at account, product, and channel level.
  • Provide financial leadership in Business Development Agreements, pricing negotiations, and commercial contracts.
  • Ensure commercial decisions are financially sound, value-accretive, and aligned with long-term profitability.

Financial Operations, Reporting & Consolidation

  • Oversee end-to-end finance operations including accounting, closing, consolidation, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards.
  • Establish and maintain company accounting policies, financial controls, and reporting standards.
  • Deliver clear, insight-driven management and board reports highlighting performance, risks, and corrective actions.

Tax, Statutory Compliance & Audit

  • Hold overall accountability for corporate tax, VAT, and statutory compliance across the company.
  • Lead relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure successful completion of statutory audits, tax filings, and regulatory submissions with no material weaknesses.
  • Proactively manage tax risk, compliance exposure, and regulatory changes impacting the business.

Treasury, Liquidity & Risk Management

  • Oversee treasury activities including cash flow management, banking relationships, and financing arrangements.
  • Ensure adequate liquidity and funding to support operations and growth.
  • Establish financial risk management frameworks covering credit risk, liquidity risk, and operational finance risks.
  • Safeguard financial resilience through proactive monitoring and mitigation of financial exposures.

Digital Finance, Systems & Controls

  • Own the finance systems landscape including ERP, reporting tools, and financial data architecture.
  • Lead finance digitalisation initiatives to improve automation, control, and decision support.
  • Ensure financial data governance, integrity, and accessibility across the organisation.

Finance Organisation Leadership

  • Lead and develop the entire finance organisation including accounting, commercial finance, tax, treasury, and reporting.
  • Set clear performance standards, accountability frameworks, and succession plans within the finance function.
  • Build a high-performing finance team capable of supporting scale, complexity, and growth.
  • Embed NCH Culture DNA values across the finance organisation through leadership behaviour and decision-making.

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline. MBA from a recognised global business school is a plus.
  • Fully qualified finance professional required (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • 12 - 18 years of progressive finance experience, including significant experience as the most senior finance leader or deputy CFO within a complex organisation.
  • Proven end-to-end ownership of finance functions including accounting, reporting, tax, treasury, controls, and commercial finance.
  • Experience within healthcare, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or FMCG distribution environments.
  • Demonstrated accountability for statutory financial statements, audits, and regulatory compliance.
  • Exposure to multi-entity operations, consolidation, and regional or international business structures.

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Expert knowledge of financial reporting, accounting standards, and statutory compliance.
  • Strong command of budgeting, forecasting, performance management, and P&L oversight.
  • Hands-on leadership of corporate tax, VAT, audit, and regulatory engagements.
  • Advanced experience with ERP finance systems, financial consolidation, and reporting governance.
  • Proficiency in Power BI and Excel for executive reporting and decision support.
  • Strong capability in financial modelling, investment appraisal, scenario planning, and risk assessment.
  • Experience leading finance transformation initiatives, including systems optimisation and process redesign.

Soft Skills & Competencies

  • Enterprise-level strategic and commercial judgement.
  • High integrity, independence, and courage to challenge decisions when financial risk or value is at stake.
  • Strong executive presence and credibility with CEOs, board members, auditors, banks, and regulators.
  • Ability to translate complex financial matters into clear, actionable insight for non-financial leaders.
  • Proven capability to lead, develop, and succession-plan high-performing finance teams.
