Animal Preparation

  • Bathing pets (shampooing, rinsing, drying)
  • Brushing and detangling fur
  • Cleaning ears and eyes (basic hygiene)
  • Trimming nails (in some workplaces, under supervision)

2. Assisting During Grooming

  • Holding and calming pets while the groomer cuts or styles fur
  • Helping position animals safely on grooming tables
  • Passing tools and equipment to the groomer

3. Cleaning & Sanitization

  • Cleaning grooming tools and equipment
  • Disinfecting tables, tubs, and work areas
  • Washing towels and grooming supplies

4. Pet Handling & Safety

  • Safely restraining animals when needed
  • Monitoring pets for stress or discomfort
  • Reporting skin issues, parasites, or injuries to the groomer

5. Customer Support (in some salons)

  • Greeting pet owners
  • Helping with check-in/check-out
  • Providing basic after-care instructions

6. Facility Support

  • Organizing supplies
  • Refilling shampoos, conditioners, and products
  • Keeping the grooming area tidy
