Job Summary

Kingston Education Training Centre is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Guest Lecturer in Fashion Design (Crochet) to deliver practical, hands-on training to students. The successful candidate will teach crochet techniques used in fashion design while helping learners develop technical skills, creativity, and an understanding of garment construction, accessories, and contemporary crochet applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging classroom and practical workshop sessions in Fashion Design with a specialization in Crochet.
  • Teach crochet fundamentals, including basic and advanced stitches, pattern reading, shaping, finishing techniques, and garment assembly.
  • Instruct learners in designing and creating crochet garments, accessories, home décor, and wearable fashion items.
  • Demonstrate the proper use of crochet hooks, yarns, fibers, patterns, and other essential tools and materials.
  • Guide learners in color theory, yarn selection, texture, sizing, and finishing methods for fashion applications.
  • Prepare lesson plans, learning materials, demonstrations, and practical projects that align with course objectives.
  • Supervise hands-on activities and provide constructive feedback to support learner progress.
  • Assess learner performance through practical assignments, projects, and skill demonstrations.
  • Promote safe and organized workshop practices while maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Keep course content current by incorporating modern crochet techniques, sustainable fashion practices, and industry trends.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, Diploma, Professional Certification, or equivalent qualification in Fashion Design, Textile Design, Fiber Arts, Apparel Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in crochet, fashion design, textile arts, or a related creative industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of crochet techniques, garment construction, pattern interpretation, yarn and fiber selection, and finishing methods.
  • Previous experience teaching, lecturing, training, mentoring, or facilitating practical workshops.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate crochet techniques in a practical learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification in Fashion Design, Crochet, Textile Arts, or a related discipline.
  • Experience designing or producing crochet fashion collections, accessories, or handmade products.
  • Experience delivering vocational, professional, or community-based training programs.
  • Knowledge of garment fitting, pattern development, contemporary crochet design, sustainable fashion, or small-scale fashion production.
  • Experience preparing learners for employment, entrepreneurship, or further study in fashion or textile-related fields.
