Infection Prevention & Control Practitioner

The Infection Control Practitioner is responsible for implementing and monitoring infection prevention and control measures, conducting surveillance, educating healthcare staff, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards to reduce healthcare-associated infections.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure daily operations comply with approved policies, procedures, and instructions.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
• Monitor team performance and follow up on escalated issues to ensure timely resolution.

Functional Accountabilities (Infection Control)

• Conduct active surveillance for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and analyze trends/outbreaks.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate infection prevention and control (IPC) policies and procedures.
• Provide staff training on infection prevention best practices (hand hygiene, PPE, isolation precautions).
• Investigate infection outbreaks and coordinate corrective actions with multidisciplinary teams.
• Perform audits and inspections to ensure compliance with infection control standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation and prepare reports for management and regulatory bodies.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and stay updated with national and international guidelines.

Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Microbiology, Public Health, or a related healthcare discipline – required
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or equivalent – preferred
• Minimum 3–5 years' experience in infection prevention and control in a healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of infection control principles, surveillance methods, and outbreak management.
• Familiarity with Saudi MOH, CBAHI, JCIA, WHO, and CDC infection control guidelines
