Since its inception in 2010, National Reference Laboratory (NRL) has expanded from a single standalone reference laboratory to a network of 12 state-of-the-art facilities across the United Arab Emirates. NRL provides world-class diagnostic services to the M42 network and partners with more than 250 clients from a wide range of market segments, including private and government hospitals, medical centers and clinics, corporate organizations, and other reference laboratories.

The Medical Laboratory Technologist - General plays a key role within the Laboratory and Pathology function at NRL, ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable diagnostic testing in line with international quality and regulatory standards. The role supports patient care through high-quality laboratory analysis, while contributing to continuous improvement, safety, and compliance within a high-performance clinical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing on blood, body fluids, and other specimens using manual and automated methods
  • Ensure accurate recording, validation, and reporting of results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
  • Conduct quality control (QC) and participate in proficiency testing (PT) programs
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment in accordance with SOPs
  • Prepare specimens, reagents, and control materials following safety and quality standards
  • Monitor inventory levels of reagents and consumables to ensure uninterrupted operations
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards (CAP, ISO 15189, DOH/DHA, JCI)
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support efficient laboratory workflow and patient care

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology, or equivalent
  • Valid DOH/DHA license (or eligibility) as a Medical Laboratory Technologist
  • Experience working in an accredited clinical laboratory (CAP, ISO 15189 preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and quality standards
  • Proficiency in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and basic IT tools
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment
