Reporting to the Director, Clinical Operations, the Medical Translator role is responsible for assisting medical caregivers in providing accurate interpretation and translation of medical information to patients, guests, and their family members from Arabic to English or vice versa using appropriate medical terminologies and comprehensible language. The interpreter is also responsible for translating information including but not limited to purpose of medical visits, explanation of surgical and medical procedures, drug information and patient medical history.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a medium of communication between the asset’s medical professionals and patients by translating and interpreting a wide range of information including but not limited to medical conditions, treatment options, follow-up appointment details, billing, and insurance as well as patients’ responses back to caregivers in an accurate and comprehensible manner using the right terminologies and language.
• Translates medical text, reports and other documents from English to Arabic and vice versa and explains to patients accordingly to ensure their understanding and cooperation.
• Interprets critical medical advice and information given by the relevant medical caregiver in an accurate manner and translates into equivalent terminology and language comprehensible by the patient.
• Communicates with patients and/or families to identify and resolve any significant issues in coordination with relevant medical caregivers.
• Relays information regarding the patients’ cultural issues to the medical caregivers.
• Assists in conducting follow up activities post treatment of the patients as and when required.
• Conducts general and medical interpretation activities to caregivers, patients and/or their families in line with the asset rules and regulations.
• Conducts data collection activities including but not limited to auditing, compiling, coding, calculations and verifications of the information and data.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of medical terminologies
• Ability to communicate and relay messages in a clear and culturally sensitive manner.
• Strong Interpersonal and Intrapersonal skills
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to perform under pressure.
• Practical knowledge in Microsoft Office suite
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic
