Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon to join a leading tertiary care cardiac center in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will be responsible for the surgical management of congenital heart disease in neonates, infants, children, and adolescents, ensuring delivery of world-class, evidence-based cardiac surgical care.

The ideal candidate will work within a multidisciplinary pediatric cardiac team to provide advanced surgical expertise and improve clinical outcomes in complex congenital heart conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex pediatric cardiac surgeries including congenital heart defect repairs, neonatal cardiac surgery, and redo cardiac procedures.
  • Manage perioperative care of pediatric cardiac patients in collaboration with cardiology, anesthesia, and intensive care teams.
  • Participate in surgical planning for high-risk congenital heart disease cases.
  • Provide emergency surgical intervention for critically ill pediatric cardiac patients.
  • Work closely with pediatric cardiologists in diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making.
  • Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, fellows, and surgical trainees.
  • Ensure adherence to surgical safety standards, infection control, and quality protocols.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary cardiac conferences and case discussions.
  • Contribute to clinical research, audits, publications, and academic development.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with DOH Abu Dhabi regulations and hospital policies.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi.
  • Board Certification / Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery with subspecialty training in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery.
  • Valid DOH Consultant License or Eligibility Letter in Cardiac Surgery.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of post-fellowship experience in pediatric cardiac surgery.
  • Strong expertise in neonatal and complex congenital heart surgery.
  • Excellent surgical, leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in ECMO and mechanical circulatory support programs.
  • Exposure to high-volume pediatric cardiac centers.
  • Academic and research background in pediatric cardiac surgery.
  • Ability to work in a high-acuity tertiary care environment.
