Job Summary
EvCare is seeking a highly skilled Electro Mechanical Electric Car Technician with deep expertise in electric vehicle (EV) systems. This role combines advanced electrical diagnostics and mechanical repairs with a primary focus on Android/Linux-based car entertainment and infotainment systems. The ideal candidate is an expert in using OBD tools for diagnostics and possesses sophisticated, hands-on knowledge of Android system-level operations — including software updates, custom installations, firmware adjustments, and full system optimizations.
You will work on a wide range of modern electric vehicles, with strong preference given to experience on Chinese EV brands (BYD, Xiaomi, Zeeker) as well as Tesla, Rivian, and other premium models. This is a technical role for someone who thrives on both high-voltage electrical work and complex software ecosystems inside today’s connected EVs.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical & Diagnostic Work
- Perform comprehensive electrical inspections, high-voltage system testing, and fault diagnosis using OBD-II, OBD-III, and manufacturer-specific diagnostic tools.
- Diagnose and repair electrical components, wiring harnesses, battery management systems (BMS), inverters, chargers, and power electronics.
- Install, upgrade, and calibrate electrical systems and accessories in electric vehicles.
- Mechanical & Structural Work
- Carry out mechanical repairs including suspension removal, replacement, alignment, and full undercarriage servicing.
- Service brakes, drivetrain components, thermal management systems, and other EV-specific mechanical assemblies.
- Android/Linux Car Entertainment Systems (Prime Focus Area)
- Expert-level installation, configuration, and maintenance of Android/Linux-based head units and infotainment systems.
- Perform full system updates, custom ROM flashing, firmware upgrades, and over-the-air (OTA) software adjustments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software conflicts, UI customization, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay integration issues, and performance optimizations at the OS kernel and application level.
- Advanced Android debugging when required for supported vehicle platforms.
- Ensure seamless integration between the entertainment system and the vehicle’s CAN bus, electrical architecture, and other ECUs.
- Vehicle-Specific Expertise
- Work confidently on Chinese EV platforms (BYD, Xiaomi, Zeeker) and international brands (Tesla, Rivian, and others).
- Stay current with evolving software architectures and diagnostic protocols for these manufacturers.
- General Duties
- Maintain accurate service records, diagnostic reports, and digital job cards.
- Collaborate with the service team to deliver exceptional customer experience and first-time-fix quality.
- Adhere to all safety protocols for high-voltage EV systems and workshop standards.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience as an EV or hybrid vehicle technician.
- Strong electrical knowledge — ability to read schematics, perform voltage/resistance testing, and safely handle high-voltage systems.
- Advanced mechanical proficiency including suspension, braking, and chassis work.
- Expert-level Android/Linux knowledge (this is the prime focus): deep understanding of Android Automotive OS, Linux kernel, embedded systems, APK installation, ADB/Fastboot usage, and custom firmware management.
- Proficiency with OBD diagnostic tools, scan tools, and manufacturer-specific software (BYD, Xiaomi, Zeeker, Tesla, Rivian preferred).
- Valid driving license and clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced workshop environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Factory or authorized dealer training/certification on BYD, Xiaomi, Zeeker, Tesla, or Rivian vehicles.
- Experience with Android head-unit brands commonly fitted in Chinese EVs (e.g., Joying, Mekede, Eonon, or OEM systems).
- Knowledge of CAN bus protocols, UDS diagnostics, and DoIP.
- Certification in high-voltage EV safety (e.g., ASE, IMI, or equivalent).
What We Offer
- Competitive salary package with performance incentives.
- Continuous training on latest EV platforms.
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge electric vehicles in a rapidly growing market.
- Annual leave, and career development support.
If you are a passionate EV technician who lives and breathes Android/Linux car systems and wants to be at the forefront of electric mobility service in Qatar, we want to hear from you.
