The Manager, Quality and Patient Safety plays a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centered care by leading and overseeing quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance initiatives in alignment with Abu Dhabi Department of Health requirements and Joint Commission International standards. The Manager works closely with clinical and operational leaders, frontline staff, and regulatory and accreditation bodies to drive a culture of continuous improvement, high reliability, and excellence in patient outcomes. The role fosters teamwork and champions service excellence, serving as a resource and subject matter expert who provides leadership and oversight to proactively address quality and patient safety priorities and to ensure care delivery is consistent with best practices, regulatory and accreditation standards, and organizational goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead Quality & Patient Safety Programs: Direct and oversee the facility’s quality and patient safety initiatives, ensuring alignment with hospital strategy and regulatory requirements.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and refine departmental strategic plans, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with standards such as Joint Commission International (JCI), Department Of Health, and other regulatory bodies.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify, lead, and supervise process improvement projects, audits, and risk management activities to enhance patient care and safety.
- Regulatory Readiness: Maintain ongoing accreditation readiness, manage regulatory compliance activities, and serve as a subject matter expert on relevant laws and standards.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of quality and patient safety data to support performance improvement and regulatory submissions.
- Policy & Procedure Oversight: Guide the development, implementation, and regular review of clinical policies, procedures, and evidence-based practices.
- Risk Management: Develop and monitor clinical risk management programs, facilitate incident investigations, and ensure learning from incidents is shared and acted upon.
- Education & Training: Provide education and technical support to staff on quality improvement tools, high reliability methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, to facilitate audits, surveys, and accreditation processes.
- Team Leadership & Development: Oversee resource utilization, provide feedback and coaching, and foster a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous learning.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with Abu Dhabi Department of Health regulatory requirements and in a facility accredited by Joint Commission International required
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Healthcare Management, or equivalent field required; Master’s degree in a healthcare‑related discipline preferred
- Certified Professional in Health Care Quality (CPHQ) or equivalent required
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in healthcare quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance required
- Expertise in quality improvement principles and statistical methodologies
- Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels to drive organizational change and performance excellence
