Since its inception in 2010, National Reference Laboratory (NRL) has expanded from a single standalone reference laboratory to a network of 12 state-of-the-art facilities across the United Arab Emirates. NRL provides world-class diagnostic services to the M42 network and partners with more than 250 clients from a wide range of market segments, including private and government hospitals, medical centers and clinics, corporate organizations, and other reference laboratories.

The Medical Laboratory Technologist - Flow Cytometry supports advanced diagnostic testing by performing specialized flow cytometry analyses to aid in the diagnosis and monitoring of complex medical conditions. The role ensures accurate testing, quality compliance, and continuous improvement in line with DOH/DHA and international accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized Flow Cytometry testing including leukemia/lymphoma panels, MRD, PNH, TBNK, and HLA-B27.
  • Prepare, process, analyze, and interpret patient specimens according to approved SOPs.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain flow cytometry instruments and laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure strict compliance with quality control, proficiency testing, and accreditation standards (CAP, JCI, ISO).
  • Accurately document and report results in the laboratory information system.
  • Support continuous quality improvement, method development, and validation activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to laboratory staff as required.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to infection control and safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • BSc in Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or Biomedical Science.
  • Valid DOH or DHA Medical Laboratory License.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of clinical laboratory experience, preferably in Flow Cytometry.
  • Strong knowledge of flow cytometry principles, instrumentation, and data interpretation.
  • Experience working in an accredited laboratory (CAP / ISO / JCI) is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in English with strong analytical, documentation, and attention-to-detail skills.
