Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Pharmacist In Charge to oversee the day-to-day operations of our pharmacy. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing pharmacy activities efficiently while ensuring compliance with all regulations, delivering high-quality customer service, and maintaining optimal pharmacy operations. This role requires a professional with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of pharmacology, medicine safety, and clinical practices. The Pharmacist In Charge will supervise pharmacy staff, manage medication delivery, stock control, and coordinate closely with healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the pharmacy, ensuring efficient organization and operations to maintain high customer satisfaction and meet departmental objectives.
  • Review and execute physician prescriptions, ensuring appropriateness, accuracy, and legal compliance.
  • Ensure timely delivery, accurate stocking, labeling, and management of medicines and products. Regularly monitor inventory and ensure the proper condition of medications to avoid expiry or deterioration.
  • Maintain strict control over the storage, reporting, and handling of narcotics and controlled substances as per Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines.
  • Serve as the Medication Safety Officer and monitor the efficacy of quality control procedures. Ensure adherence to quality assurance protocols, including the secure handling and disposal of hazardous drugs.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff and provide relevant medication information to support patient care in various clinical settings.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to pharmacy staff, ensuring proper orientation and training of new staff and interns. Provide mentorship and development support.
  • Maintain high levels of customer service by providing advice on medication usage, drug interactions, side effects, and equipment handling. Ensure proper communication and care for patients and their families.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks, order stock, and ensure accurate stocking and pricing. Ensure stock is replenished timely to avoid shortages.
  • Ensure compliance with MOH regulations, internal policies, and safety procedures. Handle sensitive medication and maintain accurate records, especially regarding narcotics and hazardous substances.
  • Strive to achieve departmental sales targets and contribute to overall pharmacy revenue growth through efficient service and effective medication management.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all transactions, prescriptions, inventory, and financial dealings in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Participate in performance evaluations of pharmacy staff to assess development needs and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Stay updated with advancements in medicine and pharmacy practices. Provide input on process improvements and pharmacy service enhancements.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Foster a positive working environment with both internal and external customers.
  • Engage in self-development and training to improve skills and prepare for more challenging roles.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and improvement of pharmacy staff performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on the pharmacy’s needs.

Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm), or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D).
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working as a pharmacist, preferably with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Valid license from the Ministry of Health (MOH).
  • Experience with hospital pharmacy is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacology, medications, and their side effects.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to assess prescriptions for legality and appropriateness.
  • Proficient in inventory management and stock control procedures.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and follow regulatory guidelines.
  • Problem-solving ability with a focus on medication, safety and quality assurance.
