PLASTER / NURSE TECHNICIAN

Key Responsibilities
- Assists and involves in the application and removal of casts, splints and braces.
- Works with and instruct patients in caring for their injuries.
- Adjusts traction equipment and be able to adjust crutches, walkers and other aids and provide instructions to patients in their use.
- Assists surgeons in the emergency room, in setting of broken bones and the fitting of prosthetic limbs. Provides health education to patient and family.
- Works directly with orthopaedic doctors and surgeons in the treatment of bone and joint injuries
- Handles wounds care under aseptic condition including change of dressing, removal of sutures and staples, application of steri strips and identification of complicated wounds and dressing change.
- Prepares, applies, maintains and removes plaster casts as directed by medical and senior staff on the Wards, Theatres, Emergency and Out-patient Clinics.
- Reviews all plaster as required and takes necessary action regarding maintenance and informing senior staff.
- Accountable for the application and maintenance of all traction set up for patients on the Wards, Theatres and Emergency.
- Acts well-trained in sterilization and infection protocols.
- Writes an official delegation of all responsibilities and assignments prior to leave / vacation.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned within the policy of the designated entity.
Experience
- Saudi: not required.
- Non-Saudi: Two (2) year work experience in the specialty field.
