Job Scope

A physician shall work in Radiology devotes his/her best ability to its proper management and provide best service for the patients. Shall provide all services required by Imaging Services in the normal scope of its operations, provide shall provide service as per departmental duty rota. Reports to and advises the Head of Radiology Unit.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensures implementation of the Ministry of Health regulations, the Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and the Department Policy and Guidelines

  • Performs professional duties as a Radiologist or directs the performance of all function of diagnostic imaging in regard to film interpretation and procedures.

  • Determines which radiological (imaging) and related service procedures are appropriate to undertake and when new techniques will be utilized. Co-ordinates with the Chief Technologist, the requirements and actions necessary to assure availability of special equipment and supplies.

  • Participates in group conferences with other physicians for the purposes of case study from a group standpoint and offers opinions from the imaging standpoint.

  • Assures the adherence to proper safety precautions, infection control and radiation precautions for the protection of unit/division personnel and patients.

  • Participates in continuing education meetings for diagnostic Imaging Unit Services personnel.

  • Provides interpretations of all tests performed by Radiology Unit within a time frame established within the department per Medical Administration.

  • Participates in and help establish the educational programs conducted by medical administration and provide instructions as required to the various departments in the form of a continuing education program.

  • Works under supervision of Consultants and Specialists working in the Radiology Unit.

  • Contributes in verification of the qualification and capabilities of all radiological technical personnel as required by Diagnostic Imaging Centre Executive.

  • Ensures their presence in the hospital while called for on-call duties.

  • Follows established policies and procedures.

    Job Requirements:
    Education and Experience

  • MBBS and Master Degree in Radiology

  • Minimum 1 year of experience post Master Degree in relevant specialty

    Job-Specific/Technical Skills

  • Good communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Required Organizational practices/patient safety standards.

  • Command over professional code of ethics, medical bylaws.

  • Knowledge of evidence based Age specific/ Population specific patient care clinical guidelines accepted by the hospital.

  • Culturally competent (Kuwaiti patients’ culture and beliefs).

  • AHA certified Basic Life support provider.
