Job Summary
Senior Registrar Family Physician is responsible for providing care for his/her patients (outpatient) maintaining a high-level of professional performance in accordance with:
- Evidence based medicine
- Professional medical ethics and CBAHI / JCIA standards.
- Hospital medical by-laws.
- Laws of Ministry of Health in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and any other
applicable regulations according to the departmental quality plan.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures through his/her actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the Riyadh Care Hospital.
Provides patient care within the parameters of their professional competence as reflected in the scope of their clinical privileges for and out-patients.
He serves in a consultative manner as required for a Family Physician.
Participates in the on-call rota of the Department of Internal Medicine for patient care.
Documents patient status including Histories, physical examinations, planning the investigations, treatment and disposal of patients.
Conducts procedures including diagnostic tap aspirations, biopsies, electrocardiographicinterpretations, etc. (see list of privileges)
Supervises the assigned Junior Staff regarding duties assigned to him.
Makes assessment and referral of appropriate patients under his/her medical care to other appropriate medical facilities.
Conducts regular ward rounds on his own and as a team with other physicians as determined by the department head.
Participates in committee meetings assigned to him e.g. Quality Improvement, Infection Control etc.
Participates actively in any training program or Educational Activity for training of junior staff, nurses, etc.
Participate in CME in national/international meetings. This includes Morbidity and Mortality Meetings, Morning Reports, Grand Rounds, Clinical Lectures, Demonstrations, Tutorials, Resident seminars, Journal Club, X-ray and Clinico-Pathological Conferences.
Carries out any other assignments as directed by the hospital administration and/or the department head.
Responsible to educate patients /families as per their needs and to implement their whole role regarding patient / family education process as mention in patient & family education policy and procedure including documentation in patient medical record.
They are knowledgeable about their essential role in patient and family education.
Involves the patient/families in plan of care and respects patients/families regarding their goals and choices of patient care.
Provides health promotion and health teaching thru methods appropriate to a patients’ developmental level, learning needs, readiness and ability to learn, language preference, culture and situations.
Allots time necessary to assess, plan implement and evaluate patient education provided to patients/families with appropriate documentation.
Abide by the policies and procedures of the Department of Internal Medicine, by laws-, rules and regulations of Riyadh Care Hospital.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee's knowledge, skills and abilities.
Reporting to
- Head, Department of Internal Medicine
Liases with
Consultants of his/her specialty, of other specialties within the department, Consultant of other departments, Nursing staff, other health care professionals, patients and their families.
Supervises
- Registrars, Residents, Nurses and other paramedical staff assigned to him/her.
Qualifications
A minimum of:
EDUCATION
- Required
University Medical Degree (MBBS) in addition to MRCGP / or American Board /or Arab Boards/ or Canadian Board or a recognized qualification equivalent in Family Medicine or General Practice.
Current license to practice medicine in his/her permanent place of residence.
Recognized as a Senior Registrar by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
Desirable
Higher qualifications in skills.
Current license to practice medicine in Saudi Arabia.
EXPERIENCE
- Required
At least (3) three years as a Senior Registrar.
- Desirable
Additional experience in a superficiality. Academic affiliation.
Competencies & Skills
- Demonstrates leadership and administrative skills.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Communication in spoken Arabic is desirable.
- Exhibits professionalism and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Is knowledgeable of the Medical by-laws.
- Knowledge of computer application.
