Specialist Ophthalmologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and patient-centric Specialist Ophthalmologist with dedicated expertise in refractive and corneal surgeries (LASIK/Ultra-LASIK/Femto-LASIK). The ideal candidate will manage a robust outpatient load, conduct advanced pre-operative screenings, and perform precise laser vision correction and anterior segment procedures to deliver excellent clinical outcomes and expand our refractive care footprint.

Key Responsibilities

Refractive & Laser Surgery: Perform advanced laser refractive procedures including LASIK, Femto-LASIK, Ultra-LASIK, PRK, and evaluate eligibility for Phakic IOLs or Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE).

Pre- & Post-Operative Management: Conduct thorough pre-op evaluations (analyzing corneal topography, pachymetry, and dry-eye profiles) to determine surgical candidacy, manage patient expectations, and oversee comprehensive post-op recovery care.

General Ophthalmic Care: Diagnose and manage general eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, corneal disorders, and diabetic retinopathy, via outpatient consultations.

Technology & Diagnostics: Utilize modern diagnostic equipment (such as high-resolution anterior segment OCT, corneal mapping systems, and advanced excimer/femtosecond lasers).

Clinical Governance: Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) in compliance with local health regulations and participate in departmental quality audits.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education: MBBS or equivalent medical degree, plus a recognized Master’s degree or residency program specializing in Ophthalmology.

Licensing: Valid Specialist License (or immediate eligibility) from SHA

Experience

o Minimum of 8-10 years of post-qualification experience as a Specialist.

o Proven, independent surgical logbook demonstrating consistent success in laser refractive surgery and anterior segment procedures.

Skills: Excellent patient counseling skills, fluency in Arabic and English (additional languages are highly advantageous), and strong clinical judgment regarding surgical candidacy.
