Position Description

Directs the entire American Hospital Dubai's Supply Chain Management functions including the daily operations and all strategic initiatives tied to Supply Chain Compliance, Policies and Procedures, Contract Management and Applications.

Position Responsibility

  • Directs the daily operations of the Supply Chain department to maximize staff effectiveness and efficiency in delivering services
  • Provides professional procurement and related advice to internal client departments, up to and including senior management
  • Directs the relationships between different vendors and information technology systems
  • Trains, develops, mentors, and assists subordinates. It is essential that the various components of the team function effectively
  • Takes full fiscal responsibility for the procurement operating budget
  • Oversees contracts which includes management of changes and variation, contract preparation and adherence
  • Directs inventory and logistics to ensure uninterrupted supply
  • Develops, maintains, and communicates procurement and sourcing policies, procedures, and practices
  • Engages with the relevant department directors and executive teams in the selection or recommendation of medical and non-medical purchases
  • Oversees staffing levels are sufficient to provide excellent customer service per procurement policies and procedures
  • Monitors and assesses the performance of supply chain staff
  • Directs supply chain applications, which includes responsibility for system maintenance, development, and training
  • Oversees supply chain financial analysis, compliance, and performance metrics
  • Drives best practices based on internal and external benchmarking
  • Leads the implementation of any new system automation project related to supply chain and contract management
  • Reviews existing procurement policies and governances for the hospital and develop new policies as required
  • Oversees periodic supply chain audits, investigates non-conformances, analyzes root causes, and provides guidance for corrective actions
  • Develops, maintains, and upkeep a Quality Management System (QMS) for the Hospital supply chain activities per the latest Joint Commission International Accreditation's (JCIA) standards
  • Monitors post-contract activities and acts proactively on contracts due for negotiations and highlights saving opportunities
  • Coordinates with stakeholders to set criteria, evaluate performance and define development criteria for hospital suppliers
  • Develops and enforces supplier code of ethics

Position Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Supply Chain or in a related field
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration/Supply Chain Management or in a related field preferred

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in a hospital specifically in the Supply Chain Department with five (5) years of experience in Senior Management in a Healthcare Environment
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) Standards.
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain processes.
  • Skills in Computer Applications such as Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
