Role Summary Provides expert clinical leadership in the evaluation, management, and long‑term care of patients undergoing heart transplantation. Oversees pre‑transplant assessment, transplant eligibility, peri‑operative management, and post‑transplant follow‑up, ensuring adherence to international transplant standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the comprehensive management of cardiac transplant patients, including pre‑transplant evaluation, listing decisions, and multidisciplinary case reviews.
  • Oversee peri‑operative care in collaboration with cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivists, and transplant coordinators.
  • Manage post‑transplant care including immunosuppression protocols, rejection surveillance, infection prevention, and long‑term graft monitoring.
  • Conduct advanced assessment of patients with end‑stage heart failure and determine suitability for transplant or mechanical circulatory support (LVAD/ECMO).
  • Interpret advanced cardiac imaging, hemodynamic studies, and biopsy results relevant to transplant care.
  • Participate in transplant selection committees and ensure compliance with national and international transplant regulations.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality reviews, and transplant program audits.
  • Provide education and mentorship to fellows, residents, nurses, and transplant coordinators.
  • Participate in on‑call duties for advanced heart failure and transplant services.
  • Engage in research, clinical trials, and academic activities related to cardiac transplantation and advanced heart failure.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Medical degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent).
  • Board Certification in Cardiology or Internal Medicine with subspecialty training in Advanced Heart Failure & Cardiac Transplantation.
  • Fellowship from a recognized international transplant center.
  • Minimum 3–5 years post‑fellowship experience in cardiac transplant medicine.
  • Proven experience managing complex heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and transplant patients.
  • Familiarity with international transplant guidelines (ISHLT, ACC/AHA).
