About the Role : Repairs and maintain all types of medical equipment as directed. Assists medical/nursing staff in operation/use and calibration of equipment.

Responsibilities :

  • Receives assignment and schedules repair and maintenance of all types of medical equipment such as clinical biomedical instrumentation, infusion pumps, electrocardiographs, dialysis equipment, anesthesia machines, cardiac defibrillator and similar equipment. Refers unusual problems to supervisor.
  • Uses available test equipment to test functioning of all medical equipment. Troubleshoots functioning problems and repairs medical devices (electronic, electro-mechanical and pneumatic).
  • Performs preventative maintenance inspections according to manufacturers recommended procedures and modifies to meet specific needs. Performs electrical safety testing and correct problems found.
  • Responds to emergency manufacturers on repair work and orders parts needed for equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Participates in in-service training of new technicians and medical/nursing staff concerning use and operation of medical/biomedical equipment.
  • Maintains all required records, reports, statistics etc.
  • Maintains established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control programs.
  • Justifies supply and equipment needs and informs supervisor.
  • Attends required meetings.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, conferences etc.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned/directed within his/her qualifications and capability.

Qualifications :

  • Associate degree in biomedical, electronic engineering or equivalent degree.
  • Valid registration in Saudi Engineering Council.

Required Skills :

  • Working knowledge of electrical circuitry, common electronic test equipment and tools and service manuals.
  • Conversant with Health Care Accreditation Standards.
