The Consultant in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) will provide expert, patient‑centered care in the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with physical impairments, disabilities, and functional limitations. The role involves leading comprehensive rehabilitation programs, working within a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes, and contributing to the development of high‑quality rehabilitation services at Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive inpatient and outpatient PM&R services, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and functional rehabilitation
  • Manage complex rehabilitation cases such as neurological, musculoskeletal, spinal cord, post‑surgical, and chronic disability conditions
  • Perform and interpret relevant diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to rehabilitation medicine
  • Lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing, and psychologists
  • Develop individualized rehabilitation plans focused on functional recovery, pain management, and quality of life
  • Ensure compliance with hospital clinical policies, DOH regulations, and international best practices
  • Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, and service development
  • Participate in teaching, mentoring, and supervision of junior medical staff, where applicable

Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree
  • Completion of accredited specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
  • Appropriate Board certification (e.g. Arab Board, European Board, UK CCT/CCST, American Board, or equivalent)
  • Eligible for licensure as a Consultant with the Department of Health (DOH) - Abu Dhabi
  • Proven experience managing complex rehabilitation cases in a hospital or specialized rehabilitation setting
  • Strong communication, leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
