DOH Registered Nurse-School Nurse

The DOH School Nurse manages the daily operations of the school clinic, handles acute and emergency medical situations, monitors student immunization logs, and acts as the primary health liaison between the school, parents, and the DOH.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Care & Case Management
- Provide treatment: Administer primary nursing care, first aid, and basic medical treatment for minor ailments and injuries occurring on campus.
- Manage chronic conditions: Develop individualized healthcare plans and monitor students with long-term conditions like diabetes, asthma, severe allergies, and epilepsy.
- Medication administration: Correctly store and administer prescribed medications in strict accordance with physician orders and DOH guidelines.
Emergency Response & Safety
- Emergency care: Act as the first responder to medical emergencies, providing immediate triage, CPR, and advanced first aid.
- Hospital escort: Accompany critically ill or injured students or staff members to the hospital when expert medical intervention is needed.
- Hazard identification: Routinely inspect school facilities (playgrounds, classrooms) to identify and mitigate potential health and safety hazards.
Regulatory Compliance & Record Keeping
- Maintain documentation: Keep up-to-date, highly accurate, and confidential digital medical records for all students and staff.
- Immunization monitoring: Review, track, and report student immunization statuses; coordinate directly with SEHA for school-age vaccination programs.
- Infectious disease control: Implement strict precautions against blood-borne pathogens, report communicable diseases to the DOH, and govern appropriate school-exclusion policies.
Health Promotion & Communication
- Screenings: Perform routine wellness evaluations including vision, hearing, and growth/development tracking.
- Parental liaison: Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's health status, injuries, or ongoing clinical care.
- Health education: Conduct workshops and create awareness campaigns for students and staff focusing on nutrition, hygiene, and mental well-being.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Valid and active DOH Registered Nurse License (or an active eligibility letter).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, ideally with a background in pediatrics, emergency care, or school nursing.
- Core Skills: Exceptional communication skills, crisis management abilities, strong interpersonal skills, and proficiency in healthcare IT systems.
Pay: AED2.00 - AED5.00 per month
