Job Description
The Endocrinology Specialist is a physician in advanced training who provides specialized care for patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders through both virtual and physical clinic platforms. The role integrates clinical expertise in endocrinology with digital health technologies to deliver accessible, efficient, and patient-centered care for conditions including diabetes mellitus, thyroid disorders, osteoporosis, metabolic syndrome, and other endocrine diseases. The Endocrinology Specialist operates under Consultant supervision, ensuring clinical excellence, patient safety, and continuous professional development within an integrated care setting.
Patient Consultations and Clinical Management
Conduct virtual and in-person consultations for patients with acute, chronic, and complex endocrine conditions
Utilize telehealth tools (video, phone, secure messaging) to assess, diagnose, and manage patients effectively
Develop and implement personalized treatment plans including medication management, lifestyle modifications, and specialist referrals
Provide continuity of care for patients with long-term conditions such as diabetes, hypothyroidism, and osteoporosis
Monitor treatment adherence, clinical outcomes, and adjust management plans as required
Document all clinical findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans accurately in the patient health record
Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance
Adhere to all relevant medical regulations, ethical guidelines, and quality assurance standards for both telehealth and in-person practice
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and incident reporting activities
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of telehealth regulations, governance frameworks, and best practices
Prepare accurate reports for audits and inspections, ensuring completeness and compliance
Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care
Telehealth Platform Proficiency and Documentation
Maintain proficiency in the designated telehealth platform including video conferencing, secure messaging, and EHR integration
Maintain accurate and complete patient records in accordance with data privacy regulations
Participate in training programs and stay updated on platform enhancements and telemedicine best practices
Collaborate with IT support to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner
Patient Safety and Satisfaction
Maintain compliance with all patient safety standards across virtual and in-person clinical interactions
Report any patient safety risks or incidents to the quality department promptly
Explain medication purpose, possible side effects, and proper use clearly to patients
Conduct consultations with empathy, complete history-taking, clear diagnosis explanation, and responsive patient communication
Monitor patient feedback and implement improvements to address concerns
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
Collaborate with physicians, subspecialists, dietitians, nurses, and allied health professionals for integrated patient management
Facilitate referrals and multidisciplinary case discussions for complex endocrine patients
Share clinical insights and recommendations to support patient-centered team care
Coordinate patient care transitions between virtual, outpatient, and inpatient settings as required
Professional Development and Knowledge Enhancement
Continuously enhance professional knowledge and clinical skills in endocrinology and integrated care
Attend relevant conferences, workshops, and online courses in endocrinology and digital health
Stay abreast of advancements in endocrinology, value-based care, and telehealth technology
Apply evidence-based practice principles and population health management approaches in clinical work
Skills
Proficiency in endocrinology assessment and management including diabetes mellitus, thyroid disorders, osteoporosis, metabolic syndrome, and PCOS
Telehealth consultation skills using video, phone, and secure messaging platforms
Proficiency in EMR systems, digital health tools, and telemedicine platforms
Evidence-based clinical decision-making and safe prescribing in endocrinology
Ability to apply population health management and value-based care approaches
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients and multidisciplinary teams
Ability to manage multiple clinical priorities in a fast-paced environment
Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice
Arabic and English language proficiency (or English proficiency at minimum)
