MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB To coordinate, plan and manage education related to breast feeding and related services for patients and family members

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS Develop and implement standards of care guidelines for assisting breastfeeding mothers

Plan and coordinate patient and family member educational activities

Develops and maintains current breastfeeding resource materials for educational purposes

Assess patient breastfeeding progress and provide professional guidance and support

Actively participate in relevant community initiatives aimed at raising awareness and education

Maintain and update Key Performance Indicators according to the requirements of the Baby Friendly Hospital initiative

Required Education A Bachelor's degree in Nursing and/or Midwifery from a recognised Nursing Institute

IBCLC certification

A post graduate qualification in Midwifery will be an advantage

Required Experience At least 2 years' experience in a related nursing field

Required Job Skills And Knowledge

  • Breast feeding process, ante-partum, intra-partum and postpartum health care and psychosocial issues
  • Client service and related management principles
  • Facilitation skills and principles of adult learning
  • Knowledge of pharmaceuticals and the effects on lactation for ante-partum, intra-partum and postpartum patients and new born babies to toddlers
  • Organising skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English (Arabic will be an advantage)
