The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing therapeutic interventions to help patients of all ages achieve independence in daily living and work-related activities. The role involves working with patients with physical, developmental, social, or emotional challenges to enhance functional performance and improve quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine functional limitations, abilities, and treatment needs; develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide therapeutic interventions to improve mobility, coordination, self-care, and vocational skills; recommend, prescribe, and train patients in adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and environmental modifications.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapy goals, home programs, and lifestyle modifications; monitor progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge reports accurately and timely; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, participate in case discussions, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to professional, ethical, and hospital standards of practice.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in occupational therapy in a large hospital.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills, with a focus on continuous professional development.
- Proficiency in splinting, particularly for clients with neurological dysfunction.
- Demonstrated experience and formal training in intermediate-level wheelchair service provision (e.g. ISWP or equivalent), in alignment with WHO guidelines.
- Experience in neuro-rehabilitation across post-acute rehabilitation, slow-stream rehabilitation, and long-term care settings
- Competence in cognitive, perceptual, and psychosocial rehabilitation to enhance daily functioning and participation
