Optometric Technician

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and obtain medical and ocular history.
• Perform preliminary tests, including visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, and visual field testing.
• Conduct tonometry and pupil dilation as directed.
• Operate ophthalmic equipment, including autorefractors, lensometers, slit lamps, and OCT machines.
• Perform and acquire ophthalmic ancillary diagnostic tests, including Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), corneal topography, fundus photography, and visual field analysis, ensuring image quality and proper documentation.
• Assist in refractive procedures, including pre- and post-operative assessments for LASIK, PRK, and other refractive surgeries; prepare patients, obtain measurements, and support the care team throughout the procedure workflow.
• Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures.
• Maintain accurate patient records using EHR systems.
• Schedule appointments and support patient flow.
• Sanitize, calibrate, and troubleshoot clinical equipment regularly.
• Coordinate with ophthalmologists regarding patients undergoing refractive procedures.

Qualification

• Diploma of optometry/ Optics or Equivalent
• Valid Saudi MOH license as an optometry/ Optics technician
• No prior clinical experience necessary — full training will be provided
• Strong interest in ophthalmology and eye care, with eagerness to learn in a surgical center environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients
• High attention to detail and ability to follow clinical protocols accurately
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume surgical setting
• Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn EHR/EMR software
• Professional demeanor, reliability, and a strong team-oriented attitude
• Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with patient positioning as needed
