Otolaryngologist

Medical specialist who diagnoses and treats conditions related to the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck. They provide both medical and surgical care, managing disorders that affect hearing, balance, breathing, swallowing, speech, and facial structures.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and diagnose conditions involving the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck
• Treat infections, allergies, sinus diseases, and airway issues
• Manage hearing and balance disorders
• Perform surgeries such as tonsillectomies, adenoidectomies, sinus surgery, ear tube placement, and thyroid/parathyroid procedures
• Treat voice, swallowing, and speech-related disorders
• Conduct head and neck cancer evaluations and perform related surgeries
• Provide care for facial trauma and reconstructive needs
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests (audiograms, imaging, endoscopy)
• Develop personalized treatment plans and counsel patients
• Maintain accurate medical records and follow safety standards

Education & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (pre-med or related field)
• Medical degree (MD or DO)
• Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery residency (5 years)
• Fellowship training (optional; e.g., pediatrics, rhinology, otology, facial plastics)
• Board certification in Otolaryngology (preferred)
• Valid DHA medical license
