Qualifications and Requirements
- Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Visual Arts, Communications, or a related field.
• Professional certification or training in photography is a plus.
• Previous experience working in medical or healthcare settings is a plus but not
required.
- Skills:
• Proficient knowledge of photography equipment (DSLR cameras, lighting setups,
etc.).
• Strong photo editing and retouching skills.
• Ability to understand and implement branding and visual storytelling.
• Good knowledge of patient confidentiality laws and privacy standards in
healthcare settings.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to archive and retrieve images efficiently.
- Other Requirements:
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing needs and
priorities.
• Attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality work in both regular and
high-pressure situations.
• Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate hospital events and special
projects.
Roles and Responsibilities
A Photographer is responsible for capturing moments and telling stories through images.
They collaborate with art teams, understand project requirements, and develop
concepts accordingly. Photographers take photographs, process them using various
editing methods, and continuously strive to improve image quality.
- Photography of Hospital Events:
• Capture high-quality images of hospital events, including healthcare seminars,
community outreach programs, patient education initiatives, and charity events.
• Document special hospital occasions like anniversaries, and public health
campaigns to highlight the hospital’s community engagement and achievements.
- Medical and Healthcare Photography:
• Capture images of medical procedures (when permitted and with patient
consent), healthcare equipment, and facilities that accurately represent the
hospital’s services and standards.
• Document interactions between patients and healthcare providers (with patient
consent) for use in training, promotional materials, and marketing campaigns.
• Take photos of healthcare staff (doctors, nurses, specialists) in action, showcasing
their expertise, care, and professionalism.
- Patient and Staff Portraits:
• Photograph hospital staff for internal communications, including team photos,
portraits of leadership, and employee recognition events.
• Capture patient portraits (with their consent) for various promotional materials,
patient success stories, and public relations campaigns.
- Marketing and Branding Support:
• Create a diverse set of high-quality images for use in the hospital’s website, social
media platforms, newsletters, and brochures.
• Ensure that the hospital’s branding guidelines are adhered to when capturing and
editing photographs, maintaining a consistent visual identity across all marketing
materials.
- Photo Editing and Post-Production:
• Edit and retouch photographs to ensure high visual quality, consistency, and
alignment with hospital branding.
• Use photo editing software to enhance the images, including color correction,
cropping, and adjusting lighting, where necessary.
- Documenting Hospital Facilities:
• Take wide-angle and detailed photographs of hospital facilities, including patient
rooms, waiting areas, surgical rooms, and other hospital departments.
• Highlight the hospital’s infrastructure, cleanliness, and patient-centric spaces for
both internal use and external promotional materials.
- Ensuring Patient Consent and Privacy Compliance:
• Ensure all photographs of patients are taken with proper consent, in accordance
with the hospital’s patient confidentiality and privacy policies
• Be mindful of sensitive situations, maintaining discretion and professionalism when
photographing patients or private medical procedures.
- Collaboration with Other Departments:
• Work closely with marketing, communications, public relations, and HR teams to
understand their visual needs and provide photographic content that supports
their campaigns and internal communication.
• Assist in the creation of visual content for social media campaigns, advertisements,
and promotional videos.
- Archiving and Organizing Photographs:
• Maintain an organized and easily accessible digital archive of all photographs
taken, including proper metadata (descriptions, dates, patient consent
information).
• Ensure that all images are cataloged and stored for future reference and use in
various hospital materials.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Photography Techniques:
• In-depth understanding of photography principles including composition,
lighting, depth of field, and exposure settings.
• Knowledge of various photography styles, including portrait, documentary,
event, and medical photography.
• Familiarity with ethical photography practices, especially in sensitive
environments like hospitals, including obtaining patient consent and
following privacy regulations.
- Editing and Post-Production:
• Expertise in photo editing and retouching, with advanced knowledge of
tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, or other professional photo
editing software.
• Knowledge of color correction, image enhancement, and digital image
manipulation to achieve high-quality, polished images that align with
hospital branding.
- Hospital Operations and Environment:
• Understanding of hospital environment and operations, including the ability
to photograph medical equipment, staff, and facilities in a way that
accurately reflects the hospital’s work and atmosphere.
• Knowledge of infection control policies in healthcare settings, ensuring that
the photographer’s equipment and actions don’t disrupt sterile
environments.
- Time Management:
• Excellent time management skills, able to work within tight deadlines,
especially when supporting time-sensitive events or projects.
• Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently, balancing multiple photography projects
simultaneously.
- Attention to Detail:
• High attention to detail when capturing images, ensuring that everything
from patient interactions to medical equipment is represented accurately
and professionally.
• Skill in ensuring that all images meet hospital standards for quality,
consistency, and branding.
- Problem-Solving and Adaptability:
• Ability to adapt to changing conditions, such as fluctuating light in different
hospital areas or last-minute changes to photography schedules.
• Creative problem-solving skills to overcome challenges like photographing
in low-light environments, sterile settings, or busy hospital environments while
maintaining high-quality output.
- Interpersonal Skills:
• Strong communication skills to work effectively with hospital staff, patients,
and the marketing or communications teams.
• Ability to engage with hospital patients and staff respectfully and
professionally, especially when explaining the purpose of photography or
obtaining patient consent.
- Confidentiality and Professionalism:
• Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to hospital
policies on privacy and ethics, ensuring sensitive patient information is not
disclosed.
• High levels of professionalism and discretion, particularly when
photographing patients or medical procedures that require extra sensitivity.

• Strong organizational abilities to catalog, archive, and retrieve photographs
as needed, ensuring that images are stored securely and efficiently for
future use.

Experience
- At least 2-3 years of professional photography experience, with a strong portfolio
showcasing a variety of photographic styles, including event photography,
portraiture, and documentary-style photography.
- Experience in healthcare or medical photography is highly preferred, with an
understanding of the unique demands of capturing healthcare-related content,
including sensitive patient and medical environment imagery.
- Experience working with healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and
patients, especially in scenarios requiring discretion, professionalism, and
adherence to privacy laws and patient confidentiality standards.
