The Registered Nurse - ICU (Trauma Care) is responsible for delivering specialized nursing care to critically ill trauma patients in the Intensive Care Unit. The role involves continuous assessment, monitoring, and management of complex patient conditions, ensuring safe, evidence-based care in accordance with DOH regulations and organizational policies, procedures, and quality standards. The nurse works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes and support patients and families throughout their critical care journey.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill trauma patients in the ICU, ensuring safe and effective treatment.
- Continuously monitor and respond to complex clinical conditions, including trauma-related emergencies, using advanced critical care equipment.
- Participate in trauma resuscitations, emergency interventions, and rapid response situations, ensuring timely escalation of care.
- Administer medications, blood products, treatments, and life-support therapies safely and accurately.
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized trauma care plans.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the EMR system.
- Support and educate patients’ families, providing clear communication and compassionate guidance throughout the critical care journey.
- Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and quality standards in line with DOH regulations and organizational policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
- Valid DOH Registered Nurse license or eligibility to obtain one.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of recent ICU experience in a tertiary hospital setting.
- Experience in a dedicated Trauma ICU, Surgical ICU, or Level I/II Trauma Center.
- Current certification in BLS and ACLS.
