Job Description Summary

The Senior Lab Technology Specialist Performs a wide variety of high complexity clinical laboratory testing in different lab units including Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Molecular Microbiology, Histology and Transfusion Medicine in accordance with standard laboratory practice and procedures to obtain accurate and precise data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Operational Roles & Responsibilities

  • Perform moderate and high complexity Laboratory testing using automated analyzers or manual techniques in any Lab specialty like Chemistry Special Chemistry Serology Microbiology Hematology Blood Bank immunology and other clinical Lab Specialties including Histology and Flow
  • Perform phlebotomy and other job related miscellaneous activities requested Collects blood frominpatients and outPatients by finger stick or venipuncture
  • Identify unusual results or discrepanciesconditions which cause erroneous results take appropriate action to make corrections and solve problems advise on course of action to follow when results are unacceptable
  • Actively participate in Quality Improvement Programs to achieve organizational goals and objectives including process improvement projects and maintain operational excellence in the assigned divisionunit
  • Actively participate in Lab training programs and CEs especialy for new hires Performs all the required pretransfusion patients testing when assigned in Blood Bank unit

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's degree in medical technology or Laboratory science program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) is required.

Professional Certifications Required

Saudi Commission for health specialties Licensure requirement must be met (SCFHS Classification and Saudi MOH Licensed). Medical Laboratory technologists/Scientists certified through the American Pathologist Board of Certification (BOC) ASCP or equivalent is required.

Years of Experience

Minimum 12 years’ experience in a licensed Medical facility/Clinical laboratory as Lab Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Technology Specialist/Clinical Lab Technology Sub.-Specialty. Or a Master degree with a minimum of 5 years' experience.
