Operation Theatre (OT) Registered Nurse – Job Description

Position: Registered Nurse – Operation Theatre (OT)
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the operation theatre before surgical procedures by ensuring all equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and sterile.
• Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and the surgical team during operations.
• Maintain a sterile environment throughout surgical procedures and adhere to infection control protocols.
• Perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after surgery.
• Monitor patients before, during, and immediately after surgery, reporting any changes in condition.
• Prepare and position patients for surgery while ensuring comfort and safety.
• Administer medications and IV fluids as prescribed.
• Document nursing care, surgical procedures, and patient records accurately.
• Ensure proper handling, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Respond promptly to emergencies in the operating theatre and provide immediate nursing care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Educate patients and their families regarding pre-operative and post-operative care when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
• Valid DOH Registered Nurse License
• Minimum 2–3 years of Operation Theatre (OT) nursing experience in a hospital setting.
• Experience assisting in general surgery, orthopedics, gynecology, ENT, plastic surgery, or other specialties is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, sterilization procedures, and surgical instruments.
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification is an advantage.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work flexible shifts and remain calm under pressure.

Pay: AED7,000.00 - AED9,000.00 per month
