Description Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Performs ultrasound examinations including ultrasonography of the abdomen, pelvis, obstetric & breast.
  • Submits the images to the radiologist for discussion and reporting.
  • Calls the radiologist for consultation during the examination in difficult cases.
  • Responsible for correct identification of patients and site of examination.
  • Explains the procedure and instructs the patient in assuming physical position for examination.
  • Selects transducer and adjusts equipment controls according to the organ to be examined.
  • Keys patient information into ultrasound equipment to maintain record of images.
  • Records the images on the machine and transfer it to PACS.
  • Responsible for recording the details of the patient to the logbook.
  • Keeps ultrasound rooms in a neat and orderly appearance at all times.
  • Assists radiologist in performing special procedures such as biopsy or drainage.
  • Maintains knowledge in all sterile techniques and nursing procedures necessary in the area of ultrasound.
  • Responsible for knowing all the Fakeeh Health Care facility rules and necessary procedures and handling an

emergency situation.

  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job.

Requirements Skills and Abilities:

Able to clearly communicate with patients and their families, physicians and nonmedical staff.

Experience Must be in continuous good ultrasonography practice and should hold at least 2 years post-diploma experience.

Education Bachelor degree of appropriate radiographic/technological with special training in ultrasonography.

Licenses / Certifications License for practice as per the regional health regulatory authority e.g. (SCFHS /

DHA),
