Job Purpose
The Control Tower Operator is responsible for the continuous monitoring of temperature control and GPS tracking systems to identify and respond to deviations or emergency situations in a timely manner. The role is also responsible for preparing, documenting, and reporting all deviations in accordance with company procedures.
Key Accountabilities
- Continuously monitor cold room temperature systems, GPS tracking systems, and temperature alarm systems to detect and respond to any deviations or alerts.
- Promptly communicate and escalate all deviations, emergencies, malpractices, and critical incidents to the direct manager and relevant stakeholders in accordance with escalation procedures.
- Monitor truck refrigeration units and fleet transit routes to identify temperature variances, route deviations, or other transportation-related issues.
- Coordinate with drivers during vehicle breakdowns or emergencies and ensure continuous temperature monitoring to safeguard product integrity.
- Verify the functionality and availability of monitoring systems and immediately report any system failures or communication interruptions.
- Monitor operational systems for potential emergency conditions, including network failures, power outages, and other disruptions that may impact operations.
- Maintain effective communication with warehouse teams, transportation supervisors, maintenance personnel, and drivers to ensure timely resolution of incidents.
- Ensure strict compliance with all approved procedures, policies, and escalation matrices related to deviations, emergencies, and crisis situations.
- Prepare and maintain deviation reports for temperature excursions, route deviations, and emergency incidents, incorporating findings and corrective actions from relevant departments.
- Coordinate with warehouse storekeepers to investigate and determine the root causes of temperature deviations, whether operational or equipment related.
- Maintain accurate records of temperature monitoring data, fleet transit information, incident reports, and provide operational support during emergencies and crisis situations.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Operations Management, or any related field.
Minimum Experience
- 1-3 years of experience in monitoring of Control Tower, temperature monitoring systems, and GPS systems. Prior experience in warehouse operations and cold storage equipment.
