Job Description

The Neurology Consultant is responsible for delivering specialized, evidence-based neurological care through comprehensive clinical assessment, accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and long-term management of patients with neurological disorders. The role provides clinical leadership within the Neurology service line, ensures adherence to evidence-based practice and patient safety standards, and actively supports multidisciplinary collaboration to optimize patient outcomes across virtual and integrated care settings. The Consultant Neurologist contributes to the continuous development of neurology services at Bupa CareConnect.

Clinical Assessment and Management

  • Conduct comprehensive neurological evaluations through detailed history taking, physical and neurological examination, and review of diagnostic investigations

  • Diagnose and manage neurological conditions including headache disorders, epilepsy, cerebrovascular diseases, movement disorders, neuropathies, demyelinating diseases, and neurodegenerative conditions

  • Interpret and correlate laboratory, neuroimaging (MRI, CT), and electrophysiological (EEG, NCS/EMG) findings

  • Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment and follow-up plans for each patient

  • Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record system

  • Escalate complex or high-risk neurological cases to tertiary services or inpatient management when clinically required

Clinical Leadership and Service Development

  • Provide clinical leadership and professional guidance within the Neurology service line

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical pathways, protocols, and SOPs for neurological care

  • Support operational planning to ensure continuity of neurology service coverage across virtual and physical settings

  • Participate in strategic initiatives to enhance neurology services within CareConnect and Integrated Care Centres

  • Assist in evaluating and optimizing tele-neurology workflows and virtual care processes

Clinical Quality and Safe Practice

  • Ensure delivery of safe, patient-centered, high-quality neurological care aligned with best practice standards

  • Adhere to institutional clinical governance policies, neurological guidelines, and evidence-based medicine principles

  • Participate in quality assurance activities, clinical audits, and peer review initiatives

  • Report, investigate, and manage clinical incidents, near misses, and adverse events appropriately

  • Support compliance with CBAHI, JCI, and other applicable accreditation requirements

Multidisciplinary Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate with internal medicine, emergency medicine, psychiatry, rehabilitation, and primary care services

  • Participate in MDT case discussions and care coordination activities for complex neurological patients

  • Maintain timely and professional communication with referring physicians on diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up

  • Provide clinical guidance and education to healthcare providers regarding neurological conditions and referral pathways

  • Coordinate patient care transitions and referrals to tertiary neurological services when clinically indicated

Patient Safety and Satisfaction

  • Promote a culture of patient safety, empathy, and patient-centered neurological care

  • Educate patients and families on neurological diagnoses, treatment plans, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications

  • Address patient concerns with clarity, compassion, and professionalism

  • Monitor patient satisfaction feedback and participate in service improvement initiatives

  • Ensure confidentiality and protection of patient information in all interactions

Professional Development and Compliance

  • Maintain active SCFHS professional licensure and comply with all regulatory and credentialing requirements

  • Participate regularly in CME activities, professional conferences, and specialty development programs

  • Stay updated with advancements in neurology, clinical research, and emerging treatment modalities

  • Mentor junior physicians and allied health staff to strengthen team clinical capabilities

  • Contribute to departmental educational and academic development activities

Skills

  • Expert diagnosis and management of neurological conditions including epilepsy, stroke, headache disorders, movement disorders, neuropathies, and demyelinating diseases

  • Interpretation of EEG, MRI, CT neuroimaging, and electrophysiological studies (NCS/EMG)

  • Proficiency in tele-neurology and virtual neurological care delivery

  • Proficiency in EHR systems and telemedicine platforms

  • Evidence-based clinical decision-making in complex and multi-system neurological cases

  • Clinical leadership and mentoring capabilities within a neurology team

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient engagement skills

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary settings
