Specialist - Ophthalmology

- Ensures that Ophthalmological care rendered meets DoH standards.
- Monitors within established guidelines the quality of care provided. Participates in review/study of
difficult and special cases.
- Monitors the eye care rendered on a daily basis to ensure that DoH Standards are met.
- Keeps informed as to current developments in the field of ophthalmology.
- Available for consultation after working hours
- Coordinates with the HOD in planning programs integrating the curative and preventive aspects of
total patient care
- Participates in the implementation of approved curative/preventive programs as
they relate to Ophthalmology.Takes an active role in teaching activities provided for nursing & ancillary staff.
- Participates in committees as requested by the Medical Director.
- Strictly observes organization’s medical regulations and policies especially those related to
infection control, patient safety, patient assessment and patient care.
Performs other miscellaneous duties as requested by the HOD.
Participates in quality related activities programs as requested by the Medical Director.
Orients new staff when requested to do so.
Communicates regularly with HOD and other members of the service.

At least 3 - 5 years’ post qualification experience at Specialist level (independent of country)
At least 1 year Specialist level experience from a Tier 1 country as specified by the UAE healthcare regulator.
Basic medical degree and completion of a specialty qualification/education programme (fellowship/diploma) recognised by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
Certification and registration in a speciality recognised by relevant UAE healthcare authority. Active and valid life support certification (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP)
Eligibility for relevant healthcare authority registration e.g. Membership from Royal College / Arab Board Certification / MS / DM / MPhil or an equivalent recognised by relevant healthcare authority in UAE
